Linda’s lasagna recipe

My mother’s fantastic lasagna recipe. It’s always been a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 (6-ounce) cans tomato paste
  • 1 (14.5 ounces) can of crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 12 ounces cottage cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound shredded mozzarella cheese

Step: 1 Put a large pot over medium heat to cook the beef till brown. Drain off all the fat. Then add the onion and cook till translucent. Now add the tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, water, oregano, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and sugar. Stir to mix till combined and cook over medium heat till boiling. Lessen the heat to low and gently boil for 1 hour.

Step: 2 When the sauce is simmering, till then blend the cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese, and egg until smooth. Putt aside.

Step: 3 Drive a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Then add the pasta and cook for around 8 to 10 minutes or till al dente; drain.

Step: 4 Now preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Step: 5 Lay out 1 cup of sauce in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking tray. Cover the sauce with 3 noodles. With 1/3 of the left sauce cover the noodles. Top them with 1/2 of the mozzarella. Set a further layer of noodles and one of sauce over the mozzarella; top with the cottage cheese mixture, and top with the remaining 3 noodles and the remaining sauce.

Step: 6 Now bake it in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes. Scatter the remaining mozzarella cheese on top and bake for 15 minutes more, till golden and bubbly. Serve straight away!
